Before you even step foot in our office, we want you to understand the comprehensive nature of our practice and how the care we provide is different. We work with you to identify the causes of your illness and address these causes rather than just treating the symptoms.

Although we provide a full range of care for medical illnesses, our perspective is informed by viewing illness as a systems problem rather than just a condition with a diagnosis attached to it. We are committed to helping you get a better understanding of the underlying causes of your illness and the links between your symptoms, personal and family history, lifestyle choices, diet and relationships.

By applying nutritional and specialized testing we develop individualized programs of diet, lifestyle, nutritional supplementation and medications to help you achieve optimal health or treat chronic complex medical problems.

Your Test Results

General Timeline:

Your test results will be sent to patient portal up to 10 business days of completion. Please notify the office if you do not receive your results within 7-10 business days.

Some specialized testing may take longer to be completed. In the case of functional testing (IGS, CDSA, ION PANEL, SALIVARY PROFILES), we will send a copy of the test result when it comes in. Dr. Beer will schedule a phone consult with laboratory specialists to review your results and prepare a report. You should schedule a follow up appointment to review these results one week after you receive report.

Urgent Results:

Test results are reviewed regularly and flagged results will be reported with a phone call to the patient when they return from the lab but in general, we wait for the final report before sending results.

Accessing Test Results:

The Patient Portal is a secure, password protected website which allows us to transmit confidential medical information by the Internet

You will receive an email informing you to connect to the patient portal via a link. You will need to enter your user name (email address), password (which you can reset) and verification (date of birth).

Once in the portal you can open the “message: which will include a copy of the test report as well as a brief comment and recommendation. The “message” tab is the first tab on the upper left hand corner of the page.

If you have difficulty connecting to patient portal, notify the office by sending an email to admin@integrativemedicalny.com.

Our staff will respond to provide you with the help you need. In most cases, this involves obtaining a new password.

General Information:

Receiving a report does not replace an office visit to discuss results in detail and establish a treatment plan.

Communicating by patient portal may seem impersonal to some of you but it allows our practice to report results, provide copies of the actual test report and document this information in your medical record. If you wish to discuss results directly, we urge you to make an appointment.

 

Prescription Refills

Medical problems requiring the use of on going medication must be reevaluated at least every six months. If you require an ongoing prescription you must be seen at least every six months.

If you have run out medication you are probably due for a return visit.

Please remember to ask for refills at the time of  each visit to avoid running out and to allow us to perform proper evaluation.

Requests for new prescriptions require an office visit and evaluation for appropriate management.

If you have run out of your medication and cannot come to the office, we will provide an interim refill so you can remain on your medication until your next visit. You can email your request to imny@imnyhelp.com or have your pharmacy call or send request via Internet.

Please note the following guidelines.

    • Give us 48 hours (2 business days).
    • Provide the following information.
      • *Name and dose of medication.
      • *Directions on how you take it.
      • *Quantity you are requesting
      • *Name and phone number of your pharmacy.
    • In general, we will not be able to provide a 90-day supply to mail order pharmacies.

Controlled substance refills will be fulfilled via Internet. Every time we send in refill we must also check the New York State Prescription Management Program and document this in your medical record.
